JPJ to conduct joint operation against motorcycles with illegally modified exhausts

PETALING JAYA: The police, Road Transport Department (JPJ) and Department of Environment (JAS) will be conducting a joint operation to go after motorcycles with modified exhausts.
JPJ said in a statement on Tuesday (March 16) that its enforcement division will be issuing notices of interview under Section 114(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
It added that it would also be issuing notices of vehicle prohibition (PG1) under Section 59 (1) of the same Act for enforcement purposes.
"Through the issuance of the PG1 notice, any owner or rider of the motorcycle found to be involved in any such exhaust modification without permission will be prohibited from using the motorcycle until the exhaust has been repaired," said the JPJ.
