HALIFAX -- Expect a quick turn to mid-winter temperatures by Tuesday evening for the Maritimes, combined with high and gusty northwesterly winds. The change is brought about in the wake of a low-pressure system moving up off the eastern U.S. seaboard Monday evening. As that system passes mainly south and east of the Maritimes, only a light mix of snow and rain is expected for Nova Scotia Monday evening. While light, there may be some slippery spots that develop on surfaces as temperatures fall towards or below freezing in the early morning hours of Tuesday. A light mix of snow and rain for parts of Nova Scotia Monday evening. A chance of flurries in New Brunswick and Prince Edward Island.
