Kamal Haasan Wins By Just 72 Votes Published by GulteDesk May 02, 2021 Actor and Makkal Needhi Maiam President Kamal Haasan has won from Coimbatore South constituency with great difficulty. Kamal won with a tender margin of 72 votes. Kamal’s party went to polls with the party’s election symbol ‘Torch’. This was the first time Kamal Haasan has faced a direct election. The MNM party had fielded 42 candidates of the total 234 Assembly seats. The party forged an alliance with the All India Samathuva Makkal Katchi. However, none of the candidates of Kamal’s party and allies have won except Kamal. Stalin’s DMK has swept the Tamil Nadu Assembly election. While ruling AIADMK did give a decent fight, it couldn’t withstand against Stalin’s surge. DMK won about 154 seats, AIADMK was restricted to 78 seats whereas MNM won 1 seat.
