We already saw a little bit up in the north bay, about. 1 in santa rosa, but thats been it so far. Weve been too dry for the rain to make it down. If youve been following live doppler 7 on our app, its probably showing green across the north bay all morning, but its not until the evening hours when we start to get this rainfall. It is talking about today and tomorrow. Wind gusts, 35 to 45 right below the threshold for damage. There may be possible issues with the burn areas in the form of toxic ash. Im not looking for debris flows out of that. To about tenth of an inch, and all of that is rain, its just most of it is evaporating before it reaches the ground. Its the next wave you see thats going to come in and bring us the today issier, light to moderate rain during the evening and overnight hours. And that low will bring us scattered showers for thursday and friday. East bay hills planner been just some scattered sprinkles to light rain from noon to 4 00, and then today issier rain at 9 00, then light to moderate rain during the midnight hour. Add water to all of that fire, debris, and some are fearing were looking at an environmental issue. Amy hollyfield live in santa rosa, amy. Reporter hi reggie, they want help from the public. If you see your storm drains are clogged, they want you to call it in. You should see these straw waddles blocking a lot of the storm drains and sandbags. Especially here in the fire zone. That is an attempt to keep toxic debris from getting into the drains. They suspect that ash from this neighborhood is toxic, but they dont know for sure because it hasnt been tested and they have been making some progress. Look at these signs we see all over the neighborhood showing that the epa has been here and removed household, Hazardous Waste from this area. But they wont truly know until they can test the runoff from here, which they should get from this rain. This rain, we are anticipating collecting samples from the storm water runoff so we can determine whats in it. Are there heavy metals . Whats the toxicity . Well know more after the rain and after we analyze the samples. Reporter there are cleanup crews here this morning, but not many, they seem to just preparing for the rain and staying away because of it. The last rainstorm we just had, didnt hit this area as hard as expected, so they did not get enough runoff to test. This storm will be the true test. Hazardous runoff isnt their only drn, theyre worried about erosion, theres no vegetation left to stop it. This could create flash flooding. And then theres also that sediment that would build up in the creeks that would keep the fish from getting enough oxygen. So true, thank you. On this one month anniversary of the north bay fires, we are looking back at some of the terrifying first moments when the atlas peak fire broke out. Many will little time to react, and that included some wineries. Reporter this is what white rock win yard looked like before the fire, drone view 7 shows us what it looks like after, it was destroyed. The winery dates back to the 1870s, making it one of the oldest in california. Several homes above the property were also levelled by the fire. When the family that owns the winery returned to the ruins, they were relieved that their livestock and family dog survived unscathed. And about 80 of their wine made it too because it was stored in caves. Abc 7 news is dedicating today to special coverage, one month later. Lets look at the traffics map now. Northbound 101, thats not far from the municipal airport. The chp reporting a big rig is leaking fuel. Police there say two garbage trucks are involved. A sigalert has been issued. Chp does not have a time when that stretch of 101 is going to reopen. New this morning, a move to prevent shootings similar to one that took place in sutherland springs, texas, senators Diane Feinstein and 22 colleagues introduced a bill to ban the sale, transfer, manufacture, and importation of militarystyle assault weapons and high capacity ammunition magazines. The gunman in the texas shooting used a semiautomatic rifle in sundays massacre. Also new this morning, former news anchor and boston massachusetts is accusing Actor Kevin Spacey of sexual assaulting her son in a bar when he was 18 years old. Kevin spacey bought him drink after drink after drink, and when my son was drunk, spacey made his move and sexual assaulted him. She says the assault happened in 2016. The news anchor said a woman in the bar must have seen what happened because when spacey left to go to the restroom, that woman suggested the teenager leave immediately. He did leave, but didnt file a Police Report until last week. The mom says out of embarrassment. New details now on the yahoo account scanned that will tarnished the sunny valley based company, their former ceo Marissa Meyer told lawmakers today even the best defended companies can fall victim to statesponsored hackers. Meyer and the current and former ceos testified before Senate Committee examining recent data breaches that affected mills of us. Meyer told lawmakers that strong collaboration between the public and private sectors is essential in the fight against cyber crimes. Aggressive pursuit of cyber criminals as the doj and fbi exhibited in yahoos case could be a meaningful deterrent in prevents future crimes like these. Meyer apologized for the thefts which occurred during her nearly five year tenure at yahoo. The Company Recently admitted that the 2013 cyber attack affected all of its customer accounts that is nearly three billion in total. Barts rollout got stopped in the tracks. Reporter reggie, its been a bumpy road for bart trying to get these new trains rolling, but theres still hope that the cars can make it by the holidays. Barts fleet of the future promises to be quieter, cooler, comfortable, and easy to use. But the future is not now after failing a test run with the California Public utilitys commission on november 3rd, bart says only three of the ten cars were recognized by the control car, blocking the doors to the trailing seven cars. The cpuc says the operator was unable to open the doors at the platform stops. It sucks, but its fine and everything too. I just wish that better cars come too because sometimes the old cars are dirtier. Not that sanitary as well, so i just want something to, you know, come cleaner as well. Thats what i want. Reporter barts plan is to have 20 new trains in service by the end of this year. Diagnose the issue and give the detailed written explanation on the cause of the failure and how its being corrected and then new tests will be run. Bart says that thanksgiving rollout of the first new train and service is still possible, passengers say the sooner the better. Itll be nice to have good cars, clean cars, so itll billion nice to get that going quickly. Theyre a little bit aged and but its a convenient service, yeah, but i would love to see some newer cars. New cars would be great. Theyre not always the cleenlest, and the temperatures not always the best. Sometimes its too hot or too cold. So that would be nice. Ed says he lost his home, but he feels grateful milo is here today. Izzy is here. Reporter her family says this was one of the greatest moments of their lives. About a young man who embraced the game that he loves a as pleasant distraction after the flames that destroyed his entire collection of baseball memorabilia. His name is loren gentlelady smith, and he clutched what had been a stack of baseball cards in what was his home. The nineyearold Oakland Athletics fan wrote the team a letter after his home was destroyed. The as responded with a care package and other teams from across the country did the same. Loren finishes Little League season over the weekend and his mother shared these photos with us. Kansas city royals pitcher Scott Alexander also paid loren a visit last weekend. Yes, we are, in fact, talking about flying taxis. Uber will operate the software that passengers use to book the trip. Speaking of lighting, look what i captured this morning, you know red sky in the morning, sailor take warning. Lets look at whats going on. And you can see the by the time lapse right there that we definitely have a red sky this morning, you can see its beautifully reflecting off the bay there, and that was the beginning of what could be a stormy evening and overnight hours. Heres a look right now. Let me show you the difference right now. See how this is a little diffused right now and a little diffused over there. Thats some of the moisture leaking out of the clouds in the form of some sprinkles right now. And thats moistening the atmosphere and leading toe a better chance of light to moderate steady rain, tonight after being gray with scattered showers today. Lets look at our temperatures. Were 52 in santa rosa, just had some of that light rain, look at clear lake, only 49 the further south you get the closer to the warmer air. Its 65 right now in san jose. Our destination, about 64 to 68, 60 at halfmoon bay. Stay in the 50s at lake port. All right, lets talk about tonight. Not as cool as the morning, temperatures about 50 to 57 degrees. The green shield opens up and morning commute. Going to be wet, but not going to be steady rain wet. Heres a look at whats going on right now with live doppler 7. Let me broaden out and let me show you what were doing. Heres the appetizer if you will, its moistening the atmosphere with the sprinkles and light rain. Thats keeping us from getting too much rain. You can see the light green to moderate yellow. Steady at 4 00. In the evening commute, its going to be most affected. Well have more scattered showers developing for the rest of us. Then by 4 30 this the morning when we start the morning commute, it starts over to scattered showers and south bay neighborhoods. Then by 9 00, it turns over to scattered showers. Lets look at the rainfall totals beginning to the evening commute. Could have slick streets by the end of the commute, napa and possibly and san rafael, then overnight, all of that rain falling on the rest of us. About 1500ths of an inch in the south bay. Up to a third around the bay, half to inch in the north bay. Winds are going to pick up, at noon, 15 to 20. Theyll be about 15 to 25 at 5 00, then at 10 00, they max out at about 20 to 30 Miles Per Hour which is usually below any damaging level. What it will do is take some of those leaves and take them off the tree so it may not be as pretty around the neighborhood tomorrow. Heres the seven day forecast. Scattered showers thursday, less of a chance, scattered showers friday. How about that . Saturday veterans day looking nice, then sunday night into monday. That could make mondays morning commute wet just like tomorrow mornings. Aha, a lot of ones in the forecast. Looks a lot worse than it will be. Okay. That sounds good.
