Some Property Managers in beach towns say they thought this would be a slow year because of covid19, but its turned out to be busier than usual. As we head back to work and back to school this week, americans are asking new questions about the coronavirus and what the fall will be like. Earlier i spoke to dr. Yvonne maldonado about everything from a potential vaccine to an explanation as to why cases are still on the rise. Everyone is still asking about a potential vaccine. President trump on monday said once again we could have one by november but i want to get your thoughts on that. I think its too hard to say right now. We are still in the middle of a number of vaccine trials and the data are just not available yet. I would be really surprised if the data were available by early november. The wall street journal reports the major Vaccine Developers are expected to release a joint statement this week promising to make safety the number one priority and not speed. What is your take on this . It seems rare that all the major Vaccine Developers would team up to release such a statement. I think theyre worried that people do not have any trust or confidence in the speed at which these studies are moving, and i think we really need to be careful and make sure people see the data and that safety is the number one consideration. And more people are getting infected now than they were last spring. Mostly older people getting sick. Has that since changed . As the virus is spreading throughout many, many communities, of course, were seeing that all ages are being affected, and i think originally we saw the older people who are now probably taking more caution and younger people who are probably a little less likely to be cautious about getting an infection. While covid infections are on the rise right now , dr. Maldonado, fewer peole have been dying from the virus. Is that because its mostly younger people getting sick or are we Getting Better at treating the virus . Its not clear exactly what it is. It may be a combination. Some may be younger people are getting infected. Some of it may be that we are Getting Better treating but there may be other factors around the way the virus is being spread that could affect the way people are responding to the disease. We have to do more. Our thanks to dr. Maldonado. Coming up, why facebook is paying people not to use their apps. Also ahead, the contest offering you a chance to win your very own candy factory.
