“Members of the public in the area of Sturgeon Landing, Saskatchewan can expect to see a larger than normal police presence in the community,” the police said in a news release issued at 11:41 am. “The public is asked to respect all police barricades and direction given by police officers on the scene. If the situation changes and residents are required to take further actions, we will immediately take steps to notify the impacted residents.”
Budd, 43, is accused of abducting Kayla Natomagan, 17, from a home in Lac La Ronge First Nation shortly after 3 am Wednesday morning.
He is also accused of shooting to death a 17-year-old male who was inside the home. Media reports have identified the victim as Natomagan’s boyfriend.
