Killingly Town Manager Mary Calorio given pay raise for "superb" work

KILLINGLY —- The Town Council this month revisited its annual evaluation of Town Manager Mary Calorio to include a $3,200 increase to her yearly salary, a jump councilors said she helped earn by her work during the ongoing COVID-19 crisis.
The council’s unanimous decision to bump Calorio’s salary to $148,262 came approximately three months after she received her first full-year evaluation since starting the job in March 2019.
Calorio met or exceeded expectations in each of the five categories —- which included community outreach, relationships with subordinates and general communication skills — she was graded in.
But unlike in past years, the council in September did not immediately tie the town manager’s evaluation to a pay raise. Calorio in October 2019 was given a similar evaluation by the previous council after six months on the job. That evaluation recap was conducted in executive session, though Calorio at the time said it produced a “positive review.”
