What we are doing in our preemptive deenergization is eliminating one potential source of initiation of catastrophic wildfires. The concern is high winds could knock or damage pg e power lines which could then start a fire. By the way, that red flag warning expires tomorrow morning. For many people, specifically in the north bay this is their fifth pg e shutoff in two months. Theyre learning how to cope, but theyre not very happy about it. The traffic lights at this intersection of highway 12 and Mountain Hawk road stopped working at about 7 00 this morning. And people who live in this area say they are getting tired of being plunged in the dark. This is like our fourth or fifth round in the last month or six weeks. Meanwhile, barts general manager says he has been beefing up security. Reporter weve hi weve hired 54 Police Officers this calendar year, 54. That is a record. Thats more than any two years combined. Reporter tonight the general manager of bart is insisting that the Transit Agency is safe, one day after police say this rider stabbed and killed another passenger on one of the trains during an argument. Investigators are naming 39yearold Jermaine Jeremiah brim as the attacker and they booked him into the santa rita jail. It was a fight that began. And anything short of having an officer on that train car, it would have been something that would have been tough to prevent. Reporter bart Police Walked out of the hayward station yesterday with bags of evidence after the stabbing. The Alameda County Sheriffs Office tells us brim stabbed and killed 49yearold oakland man oliver williams. Brim was allegedly trying to steal someones shoes on the bart train when williams tried to stop him, and brim used a pocket knife the victim was carrying to stab and kill him. The confrontation according to police lasted about ten minutes. Investigators are now reviewing Surveillance Video and looking into when the suspect and the victim first got on the train. Obviously as a commuter, you dont know what youre going to confront every day. Every day is something different. So i mean, i dont feel safe, personally, but obviously i always stay aware of my surroundings. Reporter the suspect is facing a firstdegree murder charge and a carjacking charge because police say he tried to steal a car from a dealership after that attack. It will feel like a nice cool fall day. But beyond this, we are looking at some major changes next week just before thanksgiving. While this is cool, its going to get downright cold next week. Some of the early indications. I want to show you a sneak peek at the sierra snow. Next tuesday starts to get going. By next wednesday, just before thanksgiving, we could have snow down to be 2,000 feet, at least 4 to 9 inches possible. This is an early look at this.
