Reporter well, it was a dramatic rescue to go along with lessdramatic rescues, including kayakers in pacifica and a surfer here at maverick. But the woman who had to be pulled out was walking along with her dog on the beach too close to the water. Almost every Emergency Agency in San Mateo County joined forces around noon to save a woman who tried to rescue her dog, swept out by waves. You can see its actually churning out there. Weve had sneaker waves, riptides, huge waves, 25, 30 feet high. Reporter the county incident command system was crucial. Harbor patrol and fire came in, but park units observing from land guided them to the woman treading water 200 yards out. She was at the point of complete exhaustion. I dove on top of her. I knew i didnt have time for another wave to hit her. Got ahold of her and relied on my partner to do what he does. Reporter the partner pulled them in and gave the woman credit. Pretty amazing that she was able to stay afloat that long. Very amazing. Shes very lucky. Happens off to her for being able to keep herself afloat that long.
