Reporter its official, bay area kids will not be returning to school for the rest of the school year following the recommendations from governor gavin newsom and state superintendent tony thurman. Quite frankly we have not received any indication of when it will be safe for our students to return to campus. The superintendents for six area counties announced today that classrooms will remain empty for the next two months. Schools will continue to hand out meals to families who need them. San francisco Public Schools tweeted this out. Instruction will be delivered to every student through interactive teacherled learning starting april 13th. This student tweeted back, so my entire High School Career just ends like this . We have to work through a case of how to get technology to as many students as we can. The spokesperson for the Oakland Unified School district says the biggest obstacle to Distance Learning is that thousands of oakland students dont have the tech tools they need to log on and learn. Its the biggest obstacle, Distance Learning, which is forward teaching, new material teaching, is our lack of equity when it comes to access to technology. He says the district is having trouble ordering enough chrome books for all students who need them. So the district is relying on printing out hard copy pacts to deliver to students so they can keep up with the class work at home. This is crunch time for our team.
