It took less than a minute for three Gilroy Police officer to return fire, and a crowd of several hundred people scrambling for cover. Despite the fact that we were outgunned, we had handguns, those three officers were able to take, suspect. The event ended very quickly. It took remarkable bravery to run to the shooting. He just turned six years old in june. Reporter this is his uncle, who said stephen his mother was shot by the same bullet. My understanding is that it hit stephen in the back and traveled through his body and hit his mother as well. Reporter the mother was also hit and is undergoing surgery to reattach fingers. Her mother, the boys a grandmother, is also being treated for gunshot wins and is expected to survive. Today coworkers of the younger victims, gathered for a vigil, outside of the social services where she is a social worker. This is happening to our workfamily.
