Good news for a lot of folks. If baseball is as american as apple pie, it seems only fitting the owners want to restart the league on the weekend of july 4. Mlb owners have reportedly approved a proposal to have opening day on fourth of july weekend. The plan will now be presented to the Players Association on tuesday. There are still plenty of hurdles to clear but here are some key points. A 50 50 revenue split between owners and players, thats going to be a sticky proposition. Spring training would start in early june at the teams home ballparks rather than arizona and florida, the regular season would be cut down to 82 games in the postseason will expand from 5 to 7 teams in each league, the 30 clubs, five of which call California Home will follow the rules of their respective states. I talked to the commissioner of majorleague baseball and he said we want to anything thats not consistent with state guidelines so im not concerned about what they do, as long as is consistent with state guidelines. Shawn doolittle expressed some concerns in a series of tweets, until theres a vaccine, hes worried about the risk players will be taking to return and take the chance that one of them could develop severe symptoms and in the Washington Post today, nba players c. J. Mccollum expressed the same concerns, so to have the players on one hand wanted to get back on the field but some other players are concerned about their shortterm and long term health. Just like any other employee would be concerned about coming back to work. I think selfishly a lot of people are hoping for something exciting to watch and baseball is so uplifting and fun to watch. I know selfishly people want it to come back but obviously the safety of the players has to be the most important. I should add, by the way, the designated hitter will be played in both leagues for the season, so thats another addendum and change the rules to accommodate an 82 game season. A lot of people want to watch on tv rather than sit coul symptoofs. Talked to a doctor from goodman eye care about how accurate those reports are and what you need to look out for. Pinkeye is a rare i guess early symptom of covid19, talk about that. Anywhere between 1 to 3 percent of patients who have covid19 may present with a red eye thats tearing and swollen, there was one study early on out of wuhan, china that actually found that about a third of patients had ocular findings with covid19, but these were mostly seen in the more severely and critically ill patients. Typically when we think of pinkeye we think of it in on young children, but not all these patients were young children. Oftentimes we see it in children but every year we see lots and lots of adult cases of viral conjunctivitis, usually its an annual virus. That can also be associated with upper respiratory symptoms. You mention contact lenses, should people be wearing contact lenses right now . Thats a good question, certainly if you are a Contact Lens Wearer and you tend to touch your eyes more frequently because of your contacts, then probably you shouldnt and you should for now consider switching to spectacles. Some patients just dont see adequately with her spectacles compared to their contacts, maybe because of the high range of any sadness or farsightedness or astigmatism, so those patients really have to wear their contacts in some cases to be functional at work etc. But most patients are better off during than let for now wearing glasses, glasses also are not a perfect, but somewhat of a barrier to droplets and they also of course keep us from touching our eyes just like masks can keep us from touching our mouths and noses which is very important in terms of Public Health and hygiene. For those of us who wear them, i wear glasses, talk about the proper care of glasses, if were told to wash our hands with soap and water, i typically dont wash my glasses with that but it is a good time to try . General hygiene on and around the face including your glasses is very important as a Public Health measure for covid 19. If youre having trouble with your glasses fogging over what you wear the mask, doctor goodman suggests using tape and seal the top of the mask to your face. Our chief meteorologist is joining us now, not the waves but the sky he is looking at. Lets get your mic on. Something i didnt have to worry about what i was at home. Lets take a look at whats happening out there, we are continuing to track the rain thats been falling, scattered activity but any amount of rain is welcome at this point. We see the heaviest rain falling in the north bay but east bay is picking up on heavier showers, not much for the south bay. San jose is dry right now, a little bit of activity a little closer to the coast, San Mateo County picking up on light showers but theres a heavier activity for parts of Alameda County but really Contra Costa County picking up the steadiest rainfall right now and its working its way farther to the east and northeast, scattered showers for the north bay continuing to move in the same direction, were not done with the rain chances either, we will see things quieting down a little over the next couple of hours with their rain chances tomorrow and again on wednesday, the amounts are not all that impressive but we will definitely take it before things dry out later on this week. Looking outside right now from san jose, a hint of blue sky on the horizon, the temperature managed to make it to 70 degrees in livermore before the clouds thickened up in some shower states scoot through that part of Alameda County as well. 75 degrees for the high in san jose but only 64 degrees around Half Moon Bay and only 62 in santa rosa where you had some of the heaviest rain throughout the day, close to half an inch of total rainfall so far. Right now temperatures still stands at 56 degrees in santa rosa, upper 50s for and most of sonoma and napa counties, temperatures otherwise in the 60s around the bay and even a little warmer further south close to or even above 70 degrees for the south bay. Temperatures tonight will drop back to the low to mid 50s, a little above average thanks to the blanket of clouds overhead, high temperatures tomorrow and a little bit below normal especially as you work your way farther inland, around 70 degrees for san jose and concord but thats about five degrees below normal for the middle of may. The warm spot on the map are going to touch 70 degrees, mainly inland and the south bay, barely above 60 degrees along the coast. For the east bay, mostly upper 60s, the warmest spots around 70 degrees and around the bay itself, mid 60s, a little warmer as you had further inland but you still have the best chance of showers overall and temperatures are going to be a little cooler for the neighbors to the north in mendocino and lake counties. The future cast does show a few more showers moving in by early tomorrow morning, that activity will give us our best chance of rain for the first half of the day but it takes a bit of a break tomorrow afternoon so its not going to be an allday washout. Some peeks of sun shine helping to boost the temperatures up to around 70 degrees, on chance of rain heading in on wednesday and again it will be scattered activity, its not going to amount to a lot, but we will take it and there are more rain chances this weekend, mainly saturday night into sunday with our rain chances finally dwindling by the middle of next week, we will keep an eye on that as we head to the rest of this week.
