Stance are the clouds produced we the fires that we continue to monitor. Were looking to the north toward napa county. And these clouds are more than just the smoke plumes from the fires that are ongoing as a result of the lightning strikes sunday morning. And for pa napyro cumulus clou instead of being a symptom of the fires underneath, its more complicated. They influence the behavior of the fire below them. It starts with the fire. Any fire that grows large enough heats a large pocket of air. The air then goes up. The same principle under which chimneys operate. As the air rises, even though its been heated by the fire, theres moisture in it. As it rises, the moisture condenses. And that produces the pyro cumulus clouds we see. That influences the behavior of the fire. As the air create a vacuum. If the pyro cumulus clouds continue to grow and grow, that becomes more complicated because it produces more rain but also lightning. If the lightning strikes outside of where the fire is all ready ongoing, it can spark new fires and those then merge to fall out testify ero rn clouds has no chance of reaching the ground. It evaporates but cools the air. That flows out and helps spread out the fire. This is a complicated scenario in napa county now, and it makes the fire crews task more difficult especially with when you come wine it with the heat. There are the pyro cumulus clouds in the distance. Highs today, 107 fairfield. 106 concord. 102 santa rosa. San jose a record tieing 97 degrees. 91 in knee month. Only 77 in san francisco. Were going to add clouds to the forecast for sunday and monday but with the heat dome in place, it could follow moisture with a chance of showers storms with the last thing we need.
