If you plan to watch the iconic thanksgiving day parade here in new york city, it is going to look a bit different. You guessed it thanks to the pandemic. In fact, it is only about a block long, starting and ending right here in front of macys. The balloons, though, they will still fly as organizers hope people stay home and enjoy the parade from the comfort of their living rooms. Health experts are also urging people to stay home, but despite the risks, Many Americans are choosing to travel. Thanksgiving will be different for millions of americans this year. Everything going on, i think were going to keep it real small. Im planning on having a pretty small thanksgiving dinner with my immediate family. Reporter with the coronavirus surging across the country, health and elected officials have asked americans to stay home this thanksgiving to slow the spread. Having a quiet, safe, small thanksgiving is should think of it as an investment so you can have many happy thanksgivings to come. Reporter but whether by plane, train or automobile, millions are still taking the risk as they go to see family and friends. The flight was pretty packed. I was a little concerned. Specially rigged vehicles will guide the balloons along select streets, replacing the hundreds of handlers who usually lead them along the route through manhattan. Also replaced, School Marching Bands from around the country. Instead, local groups will perform. And for all those high school and College Marching Bands missing out on the parade, of course this is a huge letdown. But they have been invited to perform next year.
