Welcome to world news america on pbs and around the globe. The first u. S. President to the bait was described as a childish screaming match. The second never happen. Tonight joe biden and donald trump will meet again for the last time before the election. After donald trump interrupted his ril 72 times in the first class, the debate organizers said he would one candidates microphone when the other has the floor. The president took an unusual step and released footage from a cbs news 60 minutes interview that has yet to air publicly. He tweeted he wanted pple to see for themselves what he called the bias, hatred, and rudess of leslie stahl and her team. Here is the end of that interview. Pres. Trump i saw your interview with joe. It was a joke. The interview 60 minutes. I see joe biden getting softball after softba. He has never been asked a question that is hard. You start with me. Excuse me. You started with me. Are you ready for tough questions . That is no way to talk. Jane as for joe bin, he did not comment on the confrontation. He did have this to say aut the debate. Jane whether the coronavirus, the future of the supreme court, or election interference, the candidates have a l to address. With 12 days before the election and record numbers of people having voted early, will this debate actually change any minds . Jon sopel joins us from nashville. So much to talk about. What can we expect . Jon we can expect different rules. We are going to have two men that have a huge amount at stake in this debate. Arguably much more important for donald trump. In soccer terms, donald trump needs to score a big win and joe biden can settle for a draw given the state of the polls which suggest hes ahead in the battleground states. Whether it will be a more lowkey affair then when it was inleveland is arguable. Some are desperate donald trump should tone it down and turn up the likability. Jane is that likely . Jon we will see. That is not who he is. Jane we are hearing tt hes likely to go the attack over his son hunter biden s overseas business operations, using influence with the then Vice President. Is that the sort of strategy republicans want to hear about in the middle of a pandemic and economic meltdown . Jon you put your finger on the problem. The issue of hunter biden, this laptop in the hands of steve bannon and rudy giuliani, finding itsay to the new york post, there are questions about it. The suggestion is that shows there was corruption between hunter biden and his father when they were Vice President. That may fire up some of the base. Does it reach americans worried about their jobs or coronavirus . Many republicans think this is not going to change the tone of the debate. It is possible joe biden will say my son has had problems in his life. This is not going to be, the American People are not concerned about it. Jane what will we hear from joe biden if all he needs is a draw . That is not a high threshold. N i think joe biden will one to show he would be a different style of president. Weve had the presidency with the volume turned up to 11 the past four years. It is likely we have been on a fast motorboat going through choppy waters. Hes going to say i have this ocean liner. Im going to steer us in, or waters. It will go back to being the way we were, less divided and angry. I think that is essentially the biden pitch to the American People.
