Were not sure if its people or resin or our homes but 300 up to 300 residents have been told to get out in the mandatory evacuation zone and i know this map looks a litlle confusing all break this down lot more detail coming up throughout the broadcast. Well stay tuned before you need to know right now as you look at this map. Is that that area outlined in blue is the active fire zone that is where the fires burning right now due east of guys are bill which is right there along one o one just to the left side of the blue square and then all the other areas that are outlined in red, those red polygon those are those pg power shut to say we should mention power was cut off to area as a preventive measures so that you know this wouldnt sparked the fire even further. There are mandatory evacuations as you look at the fire zone for geysers road to highway one 28 pine flat road and red wine or erode in all. Alexander mountain road. River road and that includes the river. Casino thats evacuated and all. All roads off of river road as well yeah fact here a look at the Evacuation Centers have been set up for these people to go to they have nowhere else to go. Winds are high school right now has been set up as an evacuation zone, Evacuation Center thats 8695 windsor road and the also the Healdsburg Community center to thats closer to you definitely had their 1557 healdsburg road and if theres any question that you have we should stress again because chp really wants to put this out there if you have questions about this if youre in the area, you dont know where to go when you want to call an official talk to somebody do not dial 911 call 2, 1, 1, that 3 digit numbers been set up to help you to 1 one please reserve 911 for actual emergency calls and there may very well be somebody who desperately needs. Emergency response but the cant get through because people are calling 911 which is general questions up to 1, one if you have a nonemergency question you need answered, very close to the fire this morning as kron 4 Sarah Stinson live in geyser hill right now all along the fire lines. Lets see how its going you can see that thick smoke is affecting her. And you can feel the heat. It just exploded right there you can see flames. Rushing up to the scene there trying to get their dozers up there. And just continues to grow its still 0 containment. I mean these guys are trying to the firefighters there trying the the best they can but the fact that this wind. Up to 60 to 70 Miles Per Hour. And so when youre coming up closer and closer. It just gets. These dozers up there. Accusations have been ordered for all. We won 28 from guises road to river. And you want to call 2, 1, 1, 4, any questions you y have looking at this live, look can see. And so they have an updated number see if they grew. Im seeing more people evacuate now. Well send it back to you were going to continue to fall this is definitely a developing situation by the minute. Yes sara. Cal fire on the phone actually nor going to get them in a second but since youre right there. Are you a little. And now always concerned me youre seeing people evacuate down that road that youre standing on youve got the mask on and you can see the glow yeah i see that car taking off going by you do you feel like they may move you back. Ok you can start to. The situation that only. This is because actually felt some heat sure so thats why were. Well say say for absolutely all the ads you see it falling snow all around are in that shot and she mentioned how the wind. You know caught her by surprise because it turned blue in her direction thats the big worry of course and fire in fighting far as the winds are whipping around so bad up at the peak, you never know where these embers are going to fall and start the spot fires. Its a real challenge so lets talk will powers hes with cal fire on the phone with us right now. What is the latest this really exploded very quickly going to 10,000 acres are you able to you know get any containment at all yet. Of the right now he it is 10,000 acres, but we have their consent, youre protecting this time. Fire like you said what the fastmoving fire that due wind that were getting out there and really low relative humidities im not the birth, but they were predicting for evening into the night and actually the of the winter predicted due tomorrow also so that can make a little difficult throughout the morning into the day. And will i know its an all all hands hn deck kind of after right now. Do you have enough of power more on the ground and then when might we see any aerial fight. Sounds like we might have just lost it will powers caheame. So we just lost him, but we did get the important thing which is its still a 10,000 acres that was the very latest exploded within the last hour or so from 7 to 10,000 acres. Were wondering we can see the crews on the ground. We will tell you immediately when we do see some any aerial drops to to be great. Right people are just trying to make sure that everybody is evacuating can see the cars leaving. The area the whole River Rock Casino is evacuated to the and typically when you have fire fights like these that erupt in the overnight hours they really cant start aerial. Coverage until daylight right because theres so many hills in there and thats what makes it tough even for them to even get an idea how big the fire is because they have to have the reconnaissance planes in the air to kind of map out the perimeter and they really cant do that until the sun comes up and they can see so i suspect maybe with 7 30 sunrises this morning 6. 30 ish so sometime in the 7 or 8 oclock hour we might get an update on the on the acreage and i w not be surprised if it jumped look at that video right was a win and heres another thing that were that im wondering about remember last week in Southern California, how. When there was daylight we had a better idea of how far the winds were taking the flames and starting spot yes it could have been miles and miles away. So thats another thing that were going to be concerned about is whether its moving as one unified front door started spot fires around and that makes it evn more challenging for cal fire. I want to give you a sense with a map of what were seeing in the area. Relates to the peach, a new power cut off because that was the big question right was the spark by pg e line was this in one of those power shut off zones well, heres a map that kind of overlays both pieces of information for you lets zoom in just a touch that area outlined in blue thats the actual fire zonas we understand it right now, but again as we said that could very well change once daylight hits and chp and cal fire get their aircraft in the air and get a better assessment of the actual perimeter of the fire but at last. The last known data we had puts the fire right there with that size now Everything Else that you see these areas in red those are the zones that pg e had intentionally shut power to as we headed into the evening hours and afternoon hours yesterday. So by by all appearances. This fire broke out in an area where the lions were d energized does that mean pg e did not caused this fire. We dont know that yet the inspectors will have to go in once its safe to do so and sort of pinpoint where the exact origin is and determine what in fact caused the fire to spark. But right there thats geyser veil you can see just how close geyser feel is to the edge of this fire. This is all burning in the hills just to the east of guys or villain theres that 1, one quarter of that takes down to santa rosa. Now the good news again is that the winds are blowing. The flames to the west and to the north. So the booming a boy in this direction which is blowing it away from calistoga and some of the other populated healdsburg all those communities along 1 one so thats the one bit of good news when we talk Sonoma CountySheriffs Department earlier this morning in our past hour. They said that the fire appears to be burning away from them some a more heavily populated communities. Thats great news because 2 years ago that wasnt the case the winds were blowing these flames directly at places like Santa Rosa Healdsburg in calistoga and the like. So thats the one bit of good news that slightly different this time around than it was last year have to keep you updated on this. Heres some more video by the way has a again these green dots those are the evacuation zones and thats going to be all part of our continuing coverage here this morning. Look at these flames from above when they had aircraft over there a late last night you can see least from this vantage point. It was pretty widespread with that wall of fire kind of chewing its way through the hillsides started. 9. 30 last nigh we had will powers from cal fire on the phone we have reestablished that connection. Well can hear me now. I can hear your pretty quiet but i hear ok all right so you are saying that it is still a 10,000 acres and were looking at this glowing site from the mountain of a plane that you had up last night when i was asking about what tom im you think you might be able to u start aerial fight with this fire. A much aerial are putting a couple be early up one comes up. Then theyll be able to do a you know a couple recon think the out there. But from a public option start attacking of faith from the air. And you have all the resources you need how many how many boots on ground have right now. The right now we have put the 400 a bar fight are currently engaged part by operation. On scene as speak. Ok and what about were talking about the winds whipping 7075 miles an hour and what we saw Southern California was the embers being takso far you know miles away and starting spot fires. How do you know that thats not happening or is it yet have you seen. Do that would like the we have out. Nothing like that its experience. As right now but the fire of course with those are ages i definitely heads on a swivel out there right now. And we also saw yesterday a much smaller fire. We were covering him. They were talking about how they actually burn some brush and burned backfires is that a technique you be using now are not at all. I dont know if theyre back burns right is technique that is used. Either going up to news currently out there on the floor. And we saw in some of the video of that weve been showing earlier this morning bulldozers being offloaded being put into position thats one of the tools are using right now is cut those fire lines. You have any idea how that progress is going. From my understanding the government out there are making good progress. But like i said were percent containment. But they are engaging in firefighting operations. And will is there any way that you can clarify the number either homes or people were talking about when its close to 300. They are in the mandatory evacuation area is that 300. Holmes. Do you already estimate, thats the number of people in those homes. I believe the number of residents that live in those areas that are possibly being affected ok expire at the no case so close to 300 people affected that are forced to get out. And then the 1700 again 1700 people are being advice. Thats the number of people not holmes thats actually estimate you have on the number of people affected. My that other people that have been put on can you know be ready to go if you have to go eped. Ok so, but so that thats that will be my question then to follow up with for those people that are watching right now because theyre sitting on pins and needles. What do you have to see on your and in terms of the firefighting effort that might trigger. Those current warning areas to be come and a tory what would have to happen for them to to be forced out of their homes this morning. Basically would have to i get to a certain point. So we have people in place that would you know predicting. Calling in it that far with 3 to certain area. And now it initiated a mock to contact her local Government Agencies and sheriff to initiate that not evacuating under a mandatory. How much warning the suppose people might have. People have plenty of warning if youre put it if youre currently under advisory on that need prepared to go. Any time that kids with from a buy very to a mandatory well and a scary thing is most of these people already have no power so its not like they can you know stay tuned to the radio or tv. It theyre theyre already in the dark. So you have the system youre using texting system and and oing through the neighborhoods in that case they can be warned. Theyll actually get verbal warnings. Yet course theres the nickel dime fom the county as the socalled alert and then all of the share least apartments were going. Were going door to door and wont be going door to door more evacuations are to take place. And the fight the the in the area where the fires burning the power had already been cut off. Im assuming you think thats good thing right because that could only have done more damage. Uh yeah i i dont know the specifics of that of the ps yeah. Be out we we had local sheriff that are going door to door do not evacuate shun when the fire first erupted. All right well, thank you so much for joining morning giving us the update on what we know so far anyway with the 10,000 acres burned overall quickly than at wendys suppose this morning when i can an update on the size of the fire in the containment after those every complaint go up. I would probably say i like it did after senate between 7 8 oclock we should have a better number on acreage. Ok between with absolutely thank you so will for that. Andf course all the folks have been evacuated and we just heard its nearly 300 people right evacuation. The mandatory evacuation zone they have to go somewhere they cant stay there thats the word dont care where you go, but you cant stay there and a lot of people are going to family and friends houses or if they have to 2 evacuation shelter they have set up shelters christina tater is live at one of the shelters right now. Thats open in healdsburg christine youve already been seeing people come in there. At about 10 so far ive seen from about half a dozen more coming in with air bags driving up. Its only 00 05am in the morning so imagine all the people who still have to wake up and hear this news and how quickly theyre going to be coming here so they do expect anymore and were here at the heels for Community Center. They have pulse facility, ready for people and they also have you know American Red Cross out here as well as an animal services. Truck but actually really quickly i want to put something into perspective for everyone at home weve been standing out here ready in front of the Community Center and actually going take a look at this acorn in my hand is very large obviously larger than a quarter there. The wind has been so strong that its been blowing these acorns off of the trees around us actually honestly im a bit scary so right so these acorns are falling everywhere around us when the wind picks up and in those moments you feel warm, its not cool at all out here we feel the warmth of the fire and were about 10 to 15 miles away from the actual flames burning so that is how intense that were feeling it again 10 to 15 miles away. But we want to go ahead and show you 2 different options that there are. Evacuation center again were here in hillsborough Community Center off of the main boulevard. Theres also an Evacuation Center at Windsor High School that on windsor road course in windsor and thats just a few miles away as well thats another Evacuation Center with resources. Well together for everyone we need to evacuate from this fire and as i during james confirmed with cal fire indeed that is almost 300 people who are going to be evacuated in about 1700 who are in the warning in danger zone one more bit of a bit of breaking news and we have for you one for nca with Sonoma CountySheriffs Office did also tell us that the fire is moving towards cloverdale and more Evacuation Orders are expected so i anticipate these Evacuation Centers having more and more people come in. You know throughout the day and of course again its only about 00 05am in the morning and actually really quickly here for you we also are here live with the mayor of healdsburg whos here to go ahead and give us some information i have i david hadley david thank you so much for joining us this morning. Thank you, yeah tell us what type of resources do you have for people cool me of that been evacuated for this fire here at the Community Center. So we activated activated our you emergency Evacuation Center and as you mentioned we can accommodate you know small animals which we found is very important for a lot of people that are being evacuated that that was something that we learned 2 years ago how important was for people built to bring their pets. We can also accommodate livestock trailers which is great. But we also have red cross here which means we also have some Mental Health services. Being this close to the 2 Year Anniversary of fires that you know that local here in Sonoma County. There are a lot of people that. Need those services we are ready with you know those services here we have you know it coffee some snacks that sort of thing right now, but also its Important Note the heel for have power. So its very important. If you dont have power that you can come up here and in charge of devices right now we have our everythings working and so its a good spot to come up here cell service and all of that. Theyre really want to hit home with something he said this is almost the 2 Year Anniversary of the Sonoma County fires, tey here in hillsborough guys didnt lose any structures but obviously it was very devastating for the surrounding area of course, the air quality was so horrible for you guys here, but you saw the devastation firsthand how are people feeling 2 years after and what is it like for you guys to see a fire so close to home. I
