Acres so far. It is 0 contained. Where the fire is burning now burning east of saint helena and calistoga in napa county and then again just east of santa rosa in Sonoma County the cause of the fire still unknown, but that red line is the perimeter of where these fires are burning right now we know that it started in an area that was under a red flag warning which as john was preparing us for as were going into the weekend we knew temperatures are going to get awfully hot as we head into sunday, yeah it was so hot last night and you can smell. That smoke i did write when i woke up this morning plus there are 2 other fires in napa county believed to be a spot fires of the glass fire, lets take a look at the napa Sonoma County line is where these are burning. Were being told those are called the shady fire and voice and fire right now. These pictures are live. From a camera that we have posted in that area napa county this morning and you can see a glow from the flames and then the darkness and smoke from those fires again youll smell it this morning, cal fire and local firefighters are diverting resources to try to contain both of those new blazes as well. The red orange area that you see thats the mandatory Evacuation Order and you can see its rather large. It contains areas, south of saint polina road west of napa Sonoma County line and north of los alamos cleveland a ranch road. East of calistoga wrote. Now Authorities Say the santa rosa. We also have Team Coverage of the big fires we want to get out and sample whats going on right now first stop we want to visit with kron 4 Sarah Stinson shes live in Sonoma County this morning. With more on the situation there and sarahs bring us up to speed with whats happening behind you. All hits an active fire fight here in santa rosa, it is a scary situation be because they are in these neighborhoods, im live here at sky hawk park which is on fire and all of houses behind me, there are still a lot of the stuff that could potentially be on fire here the firefight actively happening where im at right now though theyre able to get some water on Mount Hopkins san ramon. Cant seeks its so dark home behind me in this corner has nearly down theyve been able to contain it in some way. But theyre still actively trying to fight this fire the trying to save homes of course all the people in this area have evacuated. And its an area where you just completely get turned around at this point. Down because theres 5 on both sides of the road and so they told me no going at your own risk, but this is a this pretty intense situation, obviously its dark out. And what of notice years that theyre dealing with a lot of wind its heavy winds out here and so thats got to make the fire fight even harder. Im seeing sparks. Flooding in creating more fire so thats really a concern for firefighters. Not going to make this easy and theyre dealing with it being pitch dark out here so theyre dealing with a lot of problems but you know their use of this is not the first time so theyre going to be continuing to try and put these flames out, but its just crazy to drive into this neighborhood on Mountain Hawk. And you see this cute little park right here skyhawk park and then in the distance you just see flames. You can see right here. This is sky hall park and some sparked right there some little flames hope our customers there and then if you continue driving, i just saw a lot of flames back there and its its looks a little saying that waiting to see what the situation but ill be kind of saying youre these firefighters as they work to try and save some of these homes because as you can see this house right here totally standings fine and in the house right across the street and nearly burned down theyve been working to try and contain that so that doesnt continue to spread to other homes that were just going to continue to live this morning. Show you what were looking at and of stay safe in in at the same time you know well send it back to you in the newsroom, how is your drive there were you seen a stream of cars and all people still trying to get any activity other than the fire crews that you saw going. No i didnt see anyone i heard that there gridlock getting out of santa rose about 2 in the morning or and i didnt see that looked like everybody was out i drove you know through petaluma didnt see many people on the road obviously more people heading south then people heading north of course a lot of cash coming from the sky you can see that even in the live shot right here. Yeah, the ash at that i see in your live shot, but also the video that you were showing which really showed the wind and how strong the wind was the way that the embers were blowing looks like shooting stars they just by the camera and they were big and that explains how these spot fires got started in the first place. The ad area thats the biggest concern im seeing my own eyes is just those embers in the wind and then you know theres major concern that a fire could pop up to your right to your left. So that is going to be a huge problem ive never not a long time have i been in a fire ive seen this strong of a wind yeah. Yeah and that that is the concern glad that youre staying by the firefighters were just rolling one more shot. The video that we have where this roof just comes flying off of well looks like an outbuilding and that shows you again, yeah just how strong the winds. Were when this whole thing sparked when the glass fire started now syria is on 2 fires in Sonoma County that are spot fires. The result of that yeah in fact we have some video that was collected over night not far from where sara is located right now. In the sky Hawk Community so sarah was near skyhawk park in this video is from a hard drive which for borders, the park you can see the homes on this particular portion of that road i have burned to the ground that one still on fire. Looks like a beautiful community, but obviously we can make out in the glow the fires that a good bit of at least this section that roadway Mountain Hawk drive has burned to the ground. And again this is a scene that weve seen repeated, it seems now year after year. As these fire season seem to get more and more intense and the fires continue encroach deeper and deeper into populated communities. And the big worry with this fire season which only really just began. Last that as temperatures and winds will pick up as we get deeper into the fire season that we would see fires begin to burn in communities with embers flying miles ahead of where the fire is actually burning. Now you can see in the video, you know what the story is this morning. We got a lot of families devastated by the loss of their home, you know were waiting to get a number on how many families this is affecting but the the swath that you saw were showing the map of the Evacuation Orders not. Not a choice, but the mandatory orders was huge far greater, then those are on standby now are those that already had to get this is along the last almost drive and we you know so much video coming in to kron 4. Showing us just the devastation. Ive also been just starting to hear from people. You know that are worried about their homes. I heard one little boy saying he couldnt have been more than i dont know maybe 10 years old. I hope are can have a lot memories in there hes 10 years old a lot of these people you know if these communities have been living there for years and years dont want to have a 10 yearold been you know ask a question like that we saw lets talk to john here in a minute. We saw sarah talking about the winds she saw the embers the ash flying all over the place so the winds very big part of all of this especially for firefighters as they try to battle us so john what is the situation with the winds right winds guys have been the biggest problem at least last night into this morning gusting as high as 50 Miles Per Hour. We have confirmed gas atlas peak of just that high looking outside at these multiple, blazes that are burning across the both napa and slowness sonoma counties. You are seeing wind still regularly gusting anywhere from 15 to 25 Miles Per Hour in these are lower elevations here so it is a consistent steady wind mostly out of the northeast a pope valley saint helene a glen allen and santa rosa all pretty much in the same boat as far as those winds go and when you see winds as widespread and as regulators that you can share that once you head up into those Higher Elevations, winds are Even Stronger which as i just said to you. 45 to 50 mile per hour gusts have been reported around 4 to 500 feet. We a lot of this wildfire activity has been heres the good news, so winds are the breezy us right now they will begin backing off gradually through the day by the time we work our way into the afternoon look at this calistoga from very breezy this morning to some actually relatively calm conditions by the close of the day. So that is definitely exactly what we need to be seeing winds coming down and theres a bit of good news for you now unfortunately as winds do come down humiditys going to drop this afternoon so we already have very dry tender all that dry vegetation that this fire. These fires are burning through. You pair that with the dry air that we of course have and even if winds are not much of a factor we still have the potential of growth of this fire here. Tomorrow will still be another dry day too so tuesday does look like were going to have high fire danger. The good news is we will see these red flag warnings expiring for all of the north bay in the inland east bay at 09 00pm tonight as fire danger does gradually begin to drop the week ahead of us so were in the midst of the worst fire conditions right now and you can see that reflected with these red flag warnings, peach of course are heat advisories right along the bay, shore where temperatures today will again be scorching hot potentially record breaking for a few spots berkeley right now youre 84 degrees say holy know right now 87 degrees fairfield at 79 some of our wind year of areas are actually are hottest of spots this morning as far as temperatures go. After such a warm start we are in for another hot afternoon triple digits. Inland 90s by the bay and 80s near the coastline. More on your forecast is still to come back to you. All right, thank you very much john and a quick reminder to you can download the kron 4 mobile app right now to get the very latest with breaking news alerts Evacuation Orders. The very latest with the firefight again kron 4. Mobile app is something download and stay connected with the very latest information all throughout the day today right now we want to go live to and fall with the Santa Rosa Fire Department assistant fire marshal there. To give us the latest details that he knows good morning. Hey good morning. Whats whats the update on then the glass fire than the 2 spot fires that have burned this morning. Heart. Yeah the right the information i have is the fire that has moved out of the county fire line up by annalena pushed into center of the. And fire did burn actively was spotted ahead of itself by a mile and eventually pushed out of the county the hill to the north and the northeast. And progress down into the guy off. Want and Rincon Valley area right now the Evacuation Orders that we have that went into effect last night. Work each of out of the road and both on the north and south side of highway 12 on the fire is continuing to burn actively. Would be a pretty extreme fire behavior and very erratic got the win. In and we do have a number of that have been both damaged and and right now the goal for those that are familiar with the areas to it from continuing to progress to the south and get into and it will stay part. Give us an idea of how populated this area is and how many people are families were talking about that have had to be evacuated. Yeah, the initial Evacuation Order that went into effect for that east that stretch in the area and the prominent leader for duis Rincon Valley skyhawk Molina Oakmont with over 6500 residents. So were looking at of thousands of that asked to evacuate in a relatively quick period of time. They did pretty guess compliment of Law Enforcement from under the plea county sheriff 8 involved another of the law or other agencies it pretty much pointed every single interception along i would fall in a lot of the major intersections off of it to get people out as quickly as we could we knew that there is going to be significant traffic jam try to get that many people was a definitely a traffic condition that we were expecting. But were very happy to see that as the fire unfortunately did progress into the city limits that the would ask that of people trying to evacuate that was something that is much different during the fire on the way for in 2017 and that the difference between 17 and today a lot of improvements have been made and were seeing improvements go into effect lead in the last thing that the community needed. After the fired 1719 and then the water to myers have another fire. Blow into the intimate dinner the last thing that we needed but. We definitely had a lot of planning preparation in advance that this could happen again so when did you tell i mean thats 10s of thousands of people like you said on the move. In the wee hours of the morning. Did they get a lot of notice did you notify them, you the day ahead because we have been talking about the winds and the fire danger and then what time are they on the sarah was saying that she. Her there traffic jams at 2 oclock this morning. Yeah, that the timing of it though even before any unit were on scene. We had already started moving resources into the area bringing in Public Information officers medication team. Putting our evacuation plan into theres a lot of preparation that went into effect for the potential for the its something that we get the dreaded it was going to but we do that there is the potential for a lot of unburned fuel between the old fires you significant burden that what were seeing. So was he was power already often wire since you knew was power already off. Power with the energized that the fire pushed out of the hills into the valley floor. But people evacuated while murdered dealer. Killer is them that is all all went out late last night into early this morning. In advance of the fire dropping into the valley floor ok i was just running of the Public Safety shut down you know what they anticipated where that line was of they shut down the power before the fire or they shut down the power after the fire started. Yeah, i dont have a cause related to the fire. But the power was shut off. Out of the Public Safety power shutoff but it was soft for Public Safety and firefighter safety. As the fire moved into the cases quick as they could once the fire was sparked a shutdown. I was one of the request that was made was that. Needed her energize the transmission power line in the area where the firefight was going to take place. And you have no estimate on the number of structures obviously because you want to get near there but can you t
