Issued overnight but expanded in these Early Morning hours and one is that you dont normally see the hospital in saint helene was evacuated, they evacuated off. Oakmont residents top for us seniors with 4,500 people they brought buses in and got them to safety chateau boswell winery in saint helena gone blackrock and insane alina gone and as we said many homes we have Team Coverage this morning out in the field our reporters have been chasing the flames showing you damage. And some homes standing some homes destroyed so come to the tv and take a look at what Sarah Stinson can see in Sonoma County because a lot of people have been watching to see if their home is standing sarah. Yeah and im bringing you right to the action here in santa rosa of here live where we were talking about about a half hour. If you james darya this is the area off of a Mountain Hawk road and i want to show you that middle area were discussing this whole middle area that has charred, but its its like a Recreation Area that people can use to walk those railings or stairs and then in between is in between 2 neighborhood you can see the neighborhoods all along that area have mostly been spared you can see fire trucks lining those homes making sure they keep an eye on them so if they do catch fire they can make sure to put out immediately and then this side of the hill on Mountain Hawk road is where you see the devastation i mean that home basically a skeleton of itself. Pieces falling from it, its still smoldering. I saw water pouring out of the front door and so its been interesting to see here because its just so wild help fire is its not fair at all i mean that whole side of the street on mountain top is standing in is fun and then this side which have been showing you is the side thats not okay in fire crews down here. Theyre still working to put out some hot spots to make sure that doesnt spread any further, but we finally have that video that i shot on molina glenn place this is east of where im at right now santa rosa. We had a gun placed this just sparked up you can see those hefty flames they were so high above our heads and ash was just sprinkling on to all the neighboring homes so they have to go back there and see if it spread further i didnt have any service there so i couldnt. Show you live, but i did get that video and you can see just how bad it was there working superfast quickly did just douse it with as much water as possible. But obviously the whole is it was going to make it but then from there on out there are thinking okay, we have to stop us from continuing to spread to the other nearby homes which theres an orchard down there on a family road and that orchard was completely scorched this. Burned to the ground. And then the homes nearby another dense neighborhood that is being affected this morning so i will have to drive back there see how its doing because i saw them actively trying to put that out. But back here live on Mountain Hawk road. Its been a intense morning. Its been morning full of high winds a lot of embers flying a lot of ash and theyve been working just as fast as they can to save this neighborhood. But its been fortunately we finally have the sun up its giving less anxiety, im sure its giving the firefighters listings 82 because they finally have an idea of how to fight it and thats why theyre down here and this steep terrain making sure they put out any hot spots so that it wont explode again. Reporting live in santa rosa all send it back to you. Thanks now the area where you are much more densely packed with homes then where weve seen only a 7 shes out looking at more of the ranch land thats burned along highway 12 yeah, lets try and revisit her once again her signal was a little spotty last time well see if its any better now you only can you hear us. I can hear you hopefully you can hear me clearly and see a picture clearly now. Building or a home. Its hard to because its on far destroyed at this point i couldnt tell whether it was a like a utility structure or whether it was someone saw him. But you know firefighters are putting their resources words affecting people the this is one structure on a you know land a piece of property here and at least they the sprinklers going on so its keeping the field moist. And i think thats why theyre not too concerned with this area as opposed to just across the road on still on highway 12. Down the street here on highway you can see those fans here thats a whole other neighborhood where you have houses back to back to back and you know where i was at a little earlier was on the other side of where you see this fire engine and that was all in flames. Thats why theyre really trying to knock down. I mean you know put out the fire because the whole fence line was on fire. And so theyre trying to put that out just so that it wouldnt catch bar on some of the houses but unfortunately some did catch fire. Theyre trying to put that out so it doesnt spread theyre kind of basically doing this all along highway 12. Im just going not hear pan over and could see that there is another section theory but another section up further that caught on fire. Right here, but they were able to put that out. So you know to help prevent again going into the neighborhood you cant tell but just on the other side of this fed is a hoarder neighborhood where you have houses side by side with only a little bit of. I dont know maybe about 10 feet apart from each other. That you can see the top of that house you know so far they try to. Say this section of neighborhood from catching on fire back. These winds are not cooperating. You know i get really heavy gusts you can see how the trees are moving around and of course when not when would stop it just feeds the fire and it starts burning harder and faster so are they have quite a battle. I had of them to try to kind of get this car under control, but right now their main priority is trying to evacuate people and trying to save thanks a lot you know, yeah it was so crazy to see the stream of headlights in the darkness because most people had to evacuate 1, 2, 3, 5, in the morning. And we just got a new evacuation warning has turned into a mandatory order and thats the silverado trail taplin road and stage canyon road stage canon and chiles pope valley road. So these are new evacuations james we already had about 10,000 people affected by all these fires evacuated we by mandatory or lot of folks scrambling this morning and a lot of local officials to trying to help out as best they can get the information out when they can. And joining us on the phone right now is not county supervisor susan gorin who represents the First District supervisor gore and that that is the part of santa rosa now thats under evacuation. Good morning. And mourning not only is our evacuating up but its a plane once again were fined here. What was then that happened 3 years ago almost to the day. You know the tubbs in 2017. Im wondering if you know of any people who were able to rebuild in the last 3 years and now theyve had to evacuate. And theyre wondering if now their new home is gone. Well youre speaking to one who lost a home i did lose my home and both Fire Department in complex fires and were not quite live we are were looking forward to moving on next year and i think my rebuilding his face. We have on that the took us about 3 hours drive some tao santa rally nevada. We are and were in good company here a lot sense and lingers oh my gosh what time did you leave. And it took 3 hours was at the middle of the night. We know as of i want to think about 11 left and sister team without about an hour that. A warning mandatory orders and want to get to about an hour and a half or 2 hours can get out of of months when you have 5300 people in senior community. Fortunately many of us cards, but they brought in to evacuate assistance to center and another looking down. We were successfully evacuated and i didnt much of that fire bought like you want take attention media. Yeah trial to try to see if you can make out a home or an address thats what weve been trying to let people know as well which homes we shoot we see burn down or standing. What a story about you leaving your home, you know at midnight and taken so thanks for joining us. You didnt get to where you are what 3, 3, 30 this morning. Yes, or rolled in there about 4 this morning, know sort of heard in my job, im just just responding went 8 be yeah and the fact that you were saying and some of you have cars, youre lucky to have a car and that they brought in the buses. That was quite a scene when i heard about i mean its lena its very difficult assistedliving to evacuate. Those folks who need care and has seen a leader they evacuate the hospital. They just want to make sure that people who need help can get out. Well you can the media and home is just across the street, some of words tour which is low. To eastern that down through a as the fire are crossing highway and warned theyre they are saving lives and saving homes in a not one study and of conch just slides which coming here, you my are huge me all state park. And theyre going to do what it takes to send homes and nearly 2 homes lost to know my mind much fun of them. And i hope that no more last i dont want anyone else to go what i have to go through. I do know what families and coming down st. In have lost homes. So in terms of response being a supervisor is this something that you and your fellow supervisors are going to be a at some point here in the near future have you already in terms of getting people the assistance they need with evacuation shelters with whatever resources need to come into play during times like this. Well its 4 major signers of last 4 years yes, experience it me up an evacuation center. Weve been issuing Evacuation Orders setting up accusations and which are now small. They encourage to go handle the center. You know is opening. You were back in the news. And just keep on going south he won a vehicles of petitions theres someone just a few on 17 extra now with covid because you could fit a lot more people in 2017 before now with the pandemic. Exactly our department of public charles is on it and they set up checkpoints in each of the Evacuation Centers change what temperatures them. Thank on the and we want everyone to wear masks. And there. But yes, the merchant a merchant ship. Yeah, sure is to have a standing on order with friends and families our you went this morning. We do not we went to a here you show. And out that wanted to get right. Well we wish you well and thanks for waking up after just a couple hours of sleep after being zahra really a hellish night. Im sure we appreciate the update we feel for you and this is something that weve. And seeing as you said for the past 3 years it seems the fire season. This is the new norm in is just its just horrible. 17 square miles 11,000 acres, 3 fires now burning in sonoma and napa counties and when it jumped into the city of santa rosa proper thats one. Everybody just thought i so and glow in the dark i dont know whats scarier the dark video with a glowing embers or you have the morning first light video where we saw you know like a moonscape in those destroyed neighborhoods all around and just keeping an eye on the Sonoma County evacuation map. I while we were interviewing. The supervisor that theyve got a new section now north of Petrified Forest road. On the way up to calistoga that thats under now an evacuation warning. So if you youre in that area is fairly sparsely populated. But if youre in that area and youre hearing our broadcast this morning, its that yellow bit you see now the top of the map. Youre being told to prepare. Get your go bag ready and at a moments notice you may be told its time to go so not only have your items prepared. But also have your Evacuation Route prepared in your heads, you know exactly where you need to go. You may not have much time. We heard so many warnings this morning turn into mandatory orders dateline at least 3 different of evacuation areas that were warning went mandatory, including this newest one that was upgraded and that silverado trail of a nice side of silverado trail. All this because the winds are whipping and changing and not letting up weve got heat. You can smell it here in the bay area and see it in our air as you can imagine what its like. Up in the north bay yeah, lets get more on those winds when theyre expected to die down hopefully sooner rather than later, john trouble in the Weather Center. With that good morning. Jeff good morning guys, yeah, winds dying down later today, but certainly still the biggest factors far as wildfires spread goes this morning. Weve seen them consistently out of the northeast which is why most a fire growth has now been down into county as weve talked about but those areas like the glass fire shady and boy some fires which were the spot fires overnight. Initially it was the glass fire that were talking about yesterday have just exploded in size partly due to strong winds which picked up overnight lasted well through the evening, still very breezy this morning ive been tracking these winds throughout the morning and weve regularly seen 15 to 25 Miles Per Hour gusts consistently not having taken a break from the winds just yet our peak wind gust during overnight hours into this morning. We were from 45 to 50 Miles Per Hour thats where those upper elevations were a lot of this fire activity has been occurring and where the fire has been burning the hottest winds ahead of us do eventually die down so this is definitely the good news sonoma in calistoga very breezy this morning but look at what happens through the day winds calm into the afternoon that will make today not just the windiest day of this forecast, but also the hottest this fire danger and fire potential is at its most extreme also very dry humidity come the afternoon yacht bill conquered falling below 10 bone dry conditions in these areas, red flag warnings remain in to 09 00pm tonight all across the north bay and for the inland east bay again fire potential is at its greatest today and thats why we do have so much of the region lit up in red flag warnings, winds calm down tomorrow temperatures also not quite as hot for your tuesday, ill get to the rest of that forecast all still to come.
