Korea Shipbuilding & Offshore Engineering (KSOE), a shipbuilding arm of Hyundai Heavy Industries Group, announced on Dec. 14 that it has recently signed a contract with a European shipping company to build four 300,000-ton crude oil carriers for 400 billion won.
Each of the vessels is 330 meters long, 60 meters wide and 29.6 meters tall, and is equipped with a scrubber, an exhaust gas reduction device. They will be built at Hyundai Samho Heavy Industries in Yeongam, South Jeolla Province, and delivered to the shipping company sequentially starting in May 2022.
With the latest order, KSOE has secured orders for 25 of the 37 super-large crude carriers awarded this year, taking up 68 percent of the global market.
