Two santa clara. San joaquin. We have been messaging to all of our cooperators that we will have to set manageable paces. This is going to be a very long term incident. Only five structures have been lost. 20,000 more potentially are in the past. There was just under 1300 firefighters battling this behemoth. It would normally call for 9000 firefighters. Resources are stretched superthin all over the state. Only 1000 more firefighters are coming in the future. So are possible dry lightning events. Pickup and higher staff as many engines and volunteer companies. Any equipment that is out there. That we can staff appropriately and get after the fires that are coming in potentially. What is even more remarkable is they lack the key ingredient. This was not a wind event. There was not wind associated as a major factor. That is the same with the santa cruz unit. Wind event becomes common. Just nine days away. They continue through october. Since they will not be put out before then, these very same fires could explode once again. All of them have plenty dry land around them that could be charged with embers. 90 percent out of 100 of them will start a new fire. Once they start burning, we are expecting to see the spread distance of those embers. Three quarters of a mile. Although they think theyre doing the right thing, they inadvertently put themselves into harms way. A approaching storm could make the fire and winds more volatile putting firefighters and anyone still in the evacuation zone as serious risk. There is deafly a huge concern. At first there was the possibility. Starting to feel the air change. They will likely continue to change throughout the night. When they have to go into a evacuation zone to rescue people that really do not belong there, it is put in the firefighters at risk.
