There are also calls for the white house to release the last time the president has tested negative for the coronavirus. The president also announced today that he plans to take part in the second president ial debate next week in miami and late today biden said he also plans to attend but only if the president has tested negative for the coronavirus. Lauren, there are now four weeks to go until election day really anything can happen as we have seen over the past week it has been very busy from last week really walk its first president ial debate to the president coming down with the coronavirus, being hospitalized and released. You make a great point. Anything can happen especially in this news cycle whether he is at the hospital or not, frankly, i think he it would have been better if he had stayed. It is a very, very hard argument to make that dont be scared of this is not a big deal and people will be voting retrospectively. They will be looking at whether my life is better today than it was four years ago. That is a much more difficult argument to make for the Trump Campaign then the Biden Campaign. What kind of message can we expect from both of them . I think Kamala Harris especially, again, will be making the argument of, lets look at the record. She will hold him responsible for what was done, what wasnt done and what went wrong in the last seven months. Vice president pence will be making some more difficult argument that if Kamala Harris and joe biden will be elected, you can expect this extreme view. Maybe the plexiglas dust up will come up. She may say even in the last couple of days you refused to follow you on governments guidelines. I expect those concrete arguments to come from each of them. Looking ahead to next week, the second president ial debate is set to happen. What does President Trump need to do to possibly change the course of this race . I dont think it helps that the president has not cut off of these Coronavirus Relief negotiations seemingly holding them over until if i get elected then i will help you that is not a great message for president ial leadership, but also just to note in the white house i think we have 13 plus positive staffers in various government positions right now. That is a very difficult argument to bake make dont worry about this because a point of a president ial campaign is that you is in Leadership Matters completely. It matters tremendously. You cant just say, oh, dont worry. Things will just continue. That is the central message of any risk. That is an uphill battle, too. Dont you think people can look at it two ways . Dont fear the virus. Yes, take it seriously, but dont let it dominate your life versus one of living in fear. People can look at it two ways. Your thoughts on that as a leader is supposed to be optimistic . Yes, you are supposed to tell the truth. Democrats will say, they will emphasize the irresponsibility and inconsistency. So, the key is that President Trump does have to get those independence that helped him over the top last time. Those older voters are worried. Com. 16 firefighters in santa rosa apparently fell victim to Carbon Monoxide this morning. They were assigned to the glass fire. Ktvu s henry lee joins us live. Reporter it was an unusual side First Responders converging on the Sonoma County fairgrounds for an emergency involving 16 of their own. First time i heard of a large exposure. Reporter in the first signs of something wrong came in midmorning. The firefighters were assigned to the class fire, but werent actively fighting flames when they became ill. The firefighters were taken to the fairgrounds which is a command post for the fire. Of those 16 firefighters, one firefighter was transported to a local hospital for further evaluation and all the other firefighters were released back to duty. Reporter investigators have yet to determine what made the firefighters exposed to Carbon Monoxide. It was an Engine Strike Team so a group of firefighter agents with 16 personnel in it. Reporter symptoms include nausea, headache, and confusion. The gas is odorless, and tasteless. Now, Carbon Monoxide is especially dangerous enclosed spaces like houses. Helena however there are still evacuation orders in place close to the northern and southern fire lines. The glass fire is now 50 contained. It has burned more than 66,000 acres. Sadly, the fire has destroyed 290 homes in napa county along with hundreds of other structures. Cal fire uses backfires as a tool to fight massive fires like the glass fire. Now, cal fire investigators are looking into illegal backfires, excuse me, that are being set in the glass fire burn zone. We now take a look at why there is so much concern about backfires being done incorrectly. It can be illegal if you dont have authorization. It can be deadly if it is out of control, that means you can have criminal implications if you started the fire. Reporter sometimes, firefighters must fight fire with fire. This is called a backfiring operation. Fires deliberately set so that fires go up the instead of down the hill. We will put fire on the ground ourselves essentially eliminating the fuel of the main fire will burn before it reaches us. Reporter someplace are places in sonoma or napa countys class fire region, cal fire is investigating reports that some people may have deliberately set backfires to ward off any damage from the main fire. Private fire Defense Companies usually working for Insurance Companies on behalf of businesses or what individuals are being scrutinized. Private firefighting Companies Must check in with official fire incident command and pertain permission to protect backfire permitted properties. No freelance or solo. Since backfiring errors can make the main fire worse, more science is involved. We have to gauge how much moisture is in the fuel. There is a lot more planning that goes behind it. That is our way of mitigating that risk. We have to make sure to crowder that and keeping it from crossing the line that we dont want.
