Indian met department in Srinagar was dependent of defence establishments in Ladakh for weather readings in the vastly spread region. AIR correspondent reports, Union Earth Sciences Minister Dr Harsh Vardhan, will virtually inaugurate the newly established Indian Meteorological Department for Ladakh, in Leh today. The IMD will have four Automatic Weather Stations (AWS) operating in Leh, Kargil, Drass and Stakna. Real time weather information from these stations will be available online for every fifteen minutes and hourly basis through the IMD website.
