Lafourche Parish man accused of trying to set dog on fire A 37-year-old Lafourche Parish man was arrested after trying to set a dog on fire during an argument, police said. Chad Schouest, of Cut Off, is charged with attempted aggravated cruelty to animals, unauthorized entry of an inhabited dwelling, hit-and-run driving and DWI, the Golden Meadow Police Department said. Police were called around 9:22 p.m. Jan. 19 to a home on South Bayou Drive to investigate a disturbance. According to the police report, the suspect entered a family member’s home without permission and began arguing for unknown reasons. Schouest then grabbed the victim’s dog, brought it outside and tried pouring gasoline on it while threatening to light the animal on fire, police said. The victim said she was able to get the dog away from the suspect without the animal getting hurt. She then went back into the home with the dog and locked the door behind her.
