It's back again this year celebrating our beautiful Lake, it's Lake Superior Day at Barker's Island on July 18 from 11am-3pm and it is FREE and open to the public. Lake Superior Day was first started in the early 1990s to highlight the importance of this great body of water and what it means to the environment and our economy. Now it is held every 3rd Sunday in July. Before the main event begins, North Shore Stand Up Paddleboarding will be hosting the 4th annual Paddle for the People 4K recreational paddle race around Barker's Island. The race is FREE and begins at 10:00 am with mandatory check in from 8:30-9:30 am. You can register online at duluthsup.com. but please note registration is limited. I definitely want to check that out I am pretty sure i would not even be bale to sit and paddle on one of those boards let alone stand and compete in a race.
