Lakers' Marker to keep kids fed during holidays Free meal pickup available over holiday break FacebookTwitterEmail Families will be able to pick up free meals for kids over the holiday break thanks to the Laker Food Service staff and the Laker meals program. (Tribune File Photo) PIGEON — When Upper Thumb schools break for the holidays on Friday, Laker Schools Food Services Director Cinamon Marker will look forward to celebrating Christmas with her family. But she will also be thinking about the work she will have to do over the next couple of weeks. In a typical year, she and her staff would get a much-needed rest and recharge for the remainder of the academic year. But 2020 is no ordinary year. That’s why Marker and members of her staff who volunteer will continue to provide meals to any child under 18 or those under 26 who qualify as special needs, if families request them. And Marker knows many will as they struggle through the pandemic.
