Lakeside Produce recipient of up to $1.17M in federal emergency funds

Southwestern Ontario food processors will benefit from up to $6.1 million in federal aid, including as much as $1.2 million for Lakeside Produce in Leamington, MP Irek Kusmierczyk (L— Windsor-Tecumseh) announced Friday.
Kusmierczyk was joined by Neil Ellis, parliamentary secretary to the Minister of Agriculture and Agri-Food Marie-Claude Bibeau, during a virtual event highlighting federal support through the Emergency Processing Fund for 34 food processing companies in southwestern Ontario.

The fund is aimed at helping businesses, including a large number of greenhouse growers, keep employees safe during the COVID-19 pandemic and the food supply chain running strong, said Kusmierczyk in a news release.
