VIENTIANE, July 10 (Vientiane Times/ANN): The Lao Red Cross is calling for greater public contributions to its work, including the provision of emergency relief, blood donation, emergency rescue, basic health support, and funding. The need for greater support was the topic of discussion on Monday when the President of the Lao Red Cross, Associate Prof. Dr Phouthone Muongpak, met with the Governor of Luang Namtha province, Khamlay Sipaseuth. Associate Prof. Dr Phouthone said greater public support was needed in these areas, while the aid body also needed more volunteers and international cooperation. Additional support will enable the Lao Red Cross to work more efficiently, including in Luang Namtha, where the agency provides relief assistance to families affected by flooding and fires.
