LAPORTE â LaPorte County Health Officer Dr. Sandra Deausy extended the county's mask mandate through April 30 in a ruling issued Thursday. Deausy said she will review the order later this month. She said in her order she issued the ruling after consulting with the county commissioners and the mayors of LaPorte and Michigan City. The order continues the public requirement to wear masks indoors and outdoors when physical distancing of six feet cannot be maintained. The order also suggests a continued push for other safety measures to lessen chances of coronavirus exposure, including washing of hands and staying home if people have ill symptoms.
