Laurentian Valley received $17,000 in funding from the County of Renfrew – Social Services Relief Fund for Community Gardens in June 2020, but because of the time required to get things set up, this is the first planting season. The gardens are located at the Alice and Fraser and Shady Nook Recreation Centres. The idea for the community gardens was presented to all of the recreation groups in the township, but because of the space required to accommodate the plots, Shady Nook and Alice and Fraser were the only suitable locations.
