Learning from STEM to stern Submitted photo BLANCHESTER — To wrap up the celebration of reading and literacy last week, Blanchester Intermediate School enjoyed a visit from local engineer turned children’s author Marsha “MK” Tufft. She shared the science and math behind her book “The Cardboard Boat Race”, an adventure book centered around STEM promotion. Tufft led students in exploration around what sinks and floats, buoyancy, density and how to create a cardboard boat from stem to stern using her large tub of water and a selection of ordinary objects. Her combination of engineering knowledge along with her quest to share STEM with students of all ages was a gift to the students at Blanchester Intermediate School, said BIS fourth-grade teacher Amy Kreider.
