Leland bird poisoning suspected, reported for grackles

Three dozen dead and dying birds found in a parking lot in Leland may have been poisoned, according to SkyWatch Bird Rescue.
The bird rescue was alerted to the potential poisoning after a resident brought 12 dead birds to their facility on Sunday night. When a volunteer went to the location where the birds had been found, they discovered more that were dying or already dead.
The birds were found in a parking lot near the McDonald's and KFC in Leland.
The dead and dying birds are all Grackles, said Amelia Mason, the founder and director of SkyWatch. Grackles are small, brown birds that can often be found hanging around parking lots, Mason said.
