Letter: Environmentalism is about leveling up Kyle Dahilig People often ask me for some tips to be more environmentally friendly and without much thought, I reply with, “recycle, plant a tree and pick up trash.” As much as I wished that being environmentally friendly only consisted of tips and tricks, the journey through environmentalism is much more about leveling up. This isn’t to say that recycling or participating in cleanups is useless, rather it’s about realizing that these small activities are supplements to addressing broader issues — single-use, ecosystem restoration and access to waste disposal services. Understanding those relationships will help us move the conversation forward by building upon what we already know and, more often than not, they are interrelated.
