Letters to the Editor Time for action to prevent flooding Editor: Sometimes when you have a problem and you don’t do anything about it, it comes back to bite you, and that’s what happened in Belen Tuesday (July 6). And once again, the consequences for our community are severe. It’s time to demand action from elected officials, local leaders and the Middle Rio Grande Conservancy District. For five years or more, many of us have tried to solve the flooding problems that occurs when storms west of I-25 near Los Lunas and Belen bring heavy rain that comes over the highway and floods homes, streets and farms. Over and over again farmers, ranchers and concerned citizens have asked the authorities to address the faulty infrastructure, and yet the flooding continues.
