Level 4 lockdown likely to be extended as delta variant wrea

Uncertainty looms throughout South Africa around the modified alert level 4 lockdown restrictions being extended, as Covid infections continue to batter Gauteng.

The province may be at the peak of its third wave, with other provinces yet to hit their maximum numbers.
Yesterday, the National Institute for Communicable Diseases (NICD) recorded 21,427 new cases with 411 deaths.
In Gauteng, 10,538 new cases were recorded, followed by the Western Cape with 2,820 cases.
