Lincoln County issues burn ban with no end date in sight

The Lincoln County Emergency Management Coordinator announced a burn ban in the county starting this week.
A social media post shared by the Lincoln County Sheriff's Office stated the burn ban started Tuesday.
The burn ban prohibits all open burning until sufficient moisture is received to mitigate dry conditions within the county, the post read.
While fireworks are not prohibited under the burn ban, the general public is reminded to be extremely careful with all fireworks, the post said.
"A small spark can cause a large fire," the notice stated.
According to the U.S. Drought Monitor,  Lincoln County is at a D2 level of drought or severe drought. Tuesday afternoon, Sioux Falls, which is shared between Lincoln County and Minnehaha County, will see temperatures in the 90s with no rain chances of 50% or greater until at least Friday, the National Weather Service of Sioux Falls predicted.
