Livelihood project under LADP launched in Mokokchung

Our Correspondent Mokokchung, July 18 (EMN): In an effort to develop self-reliance and generate means of livelihood, the District Planning and Development Board (DPDB) Mokokchung launched a livelihood project under LADP Common Pool 2021-22 at Forest Complex, Mokokchung on Monday. Deputy Commissioner of Mokokchung Shashank Pratap Singh, who officially launched the project, informed that INR 10 lakh had been allocated for poultry farming for 10 constituencies under Mokokchung. It was resolved under the former Chairmanship of DPDB, Mokokchung Minister Tongpang Ozukum in April, he informed. He added that under each constituency, 10 beneficiaries will be selected out of which 50% of the beneficiaries should be SHGs  and 100 broiler chicks will be allocated to each beneficiary. He further said that SHGs have been prioritised because its success rate is high.  Singh also said that the general objective of the project is focus on self-reliance and livelihood generation. He observed that here in the district, ‘the consumption of meat and poultry products is high, therefore, focusing on producing poultry products here would be a huge boost toward self-reliance’.
