Lizards, tarantulas, 22-year-old tortoise among slew of exotic animals seized from Lansing home Updated Apr 08, 2021; LANSING, MI – About 40 animals, including lizards, tarantulas, a prairie dog and a 22-year-old desert tortoise, were removed from a Lansing home this week. Ingham County Animal Control officers also found rats, mice, an iguana and about two dozen dogs and cats, according to the Associated Press. The Ingham County Animal Shelter is asking for donations to help with the care of the animals, especially the cats. “With this number of animals, our care and medical staff is taxed to the limit so we will be closing to cat intakes until further notice,” a Facebook post reads. “If you would like to support the shelter while we deal with this large influx of animals, donations of Purina One Cat Food is appreciated as are monetary donations to help offset the cost of medical care.”
