LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) – A local student-led group is adding to the beauty of downtown La Crosse. Black Student Leaders, a group created by local area high school students, are working to create a mural for downtown. The art piece is being made in collaboration with Leaders Igniting Transformation College Fellow and a local artist. The project, which began last year, is an artistic take on the challenges that students and people of color face within the community. The Art project gives people an opportunity to express themselves in different ways. “I think that art is something that catches people’s eyes like obviously, you go to color, and you go to things that are beautiful and attractive, and art is a really good way to catch the eye,” said Breckin Sargeant, a local artist.
