Local city completes solar panel installation Unmute CARBONDALE, Ill. (WSIL) -- Carbondale city leaders say they're pleased with the progress of the city's solar energy projects. On Thursday, the city held a ribbon cutting ceremony at an array of panels located in front of the Carbondale Public Safety Center. An array of panels up and running at the safety center for about a month now. City Manager, Gary Williams told News 3 they have another a small array at the Carbondale Civic Center that's also online. "Our Southeast Waste Water Treatment Plant uses a lot of energy and the array out there will be able to supply that 100%. So, that's really cool to us, not just the cost savings but the fact that we are producing our energy on site is a great thing for our community," said Williams.
