aharpster@lewistownsentinel.com LEWISTOWN- Local man, Shawn Christopher Koch, 28, was arrested and charged with serveral crimes and traffic offenses related to his flight from officers. The Lewistown Police Department investigated a report of a male driving an unregistered vehicle at a high rate of speed through the area of Locust Street and Logan Street. There was an open contained of alcohol in the vehicle. The car did not have a license plate and the inspection expired in 2018. Officers remained in the area and the vehicle went mobile shortly thereafter. Officers attempted to stop the vehicle on Logan Street. The driver fled looping around the block before returning to the rear of 16 Locust Street. The driver abandoned the vehicle and fled on foot behind houses. The suspect was identified as Shawn Christopher Koch. Koch was taken into custody and resisted arrest. Koch was under the influence of drugs and alcohol. He was in possession of controlled substances. Koch was charged and lodged in the Mifflin County Correctional Facility pending arraignement by the on-call magistrate.
