Fox21Online July 9, 2021 EVELETH, Minn. — Almost 20 years after the plane crash that killed Paul and Sheila Wellstone, their son David, and local volunteers came out to restore portions of the memorial and paid their respects. On October 25th, 2002, the plane that Paul, Sheila, their daughter, and three staff members were on crashed just before reaching the Eveleth airport. The memorial site was established soon after, and all these years later, volunteers are still coming together to honor the Wellstone’s. “That’s the emotional part for me is how strong those bonds are and how much people that love for my folks is still there, that’s huge for us, as a family,” David Wellstone, said.
