This led to chaos in places like Spencer Plaza junction, Thiruvanmiyur junction, Teynampet, Nandanam signal and Pattalam junction. On Monday, Chennai city police commissioner Shankar Jiwal gave instructions to scrutinise motorists on the roads after 10am. On Tuesday morning, cops blocked arterial roads with barricades and allowed only vehicles with valid travel passes to proceed. Many vehicle riders took ‘U’ turns and detours to reach their destinations. Several road users complained that cops were not following any protocol.
