Getty Images While there are no plans to offer financial assistance to workers affected by work stoppages due to the Adjusted Lockdown Level 4 restrictions, talks are ongoing at the National Economic Development and Labour Council (Nedlac) about the issue. Unemployment Insurance Fund (UIF) spokesperson Makhosonke Buthelezi said they had no immediate plans to reopen applications for the Covid-19 Temporary Employee/Employer Relief Scheme (TERS). TERS was a lifeline for people out of work when the government implemented Covid-19 lockdowns when the pandemic hit South Africa last year.
