A LOG burner fire broke out in a house in Bury yesterday evening with firefighters warning of the importance of making sure flues and chimneys are cleared regularly. Two fire engines were sent to a terraced property on Battersby Street at around 7.05pm where a log burner had set alight in a back room on the ground floor. The small blaze did not spread and firefighters used a chimney nozzle and hose reel to extinguish the flames. The fire started after a build up of soot and debris in the flue. No-one was hurt in the incident. Bury Fire Station watch manager Rick Taylor added: "The fire was contained to the log burner.
