LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Metro Councilman Jecorey Arthur is urging police Chief Erika Shields and Mayor Greg Fischer to fire officers involved in an arrest Sunday, saying they violated the city's use of force policy when an officer repeatedly punched a protester in the face and others stood by and didn't stop him.

Denorver "Dee" Garrett made remarks in the parking lot of a Walmart in the city of Jeffersontown outside Louisville, Ky. on Apr. 20, 2021. Garrett was punched in the face several times by an LMPD officer last weekend during an arrest that left his eye swollen shut.
