Luanda â Angolan head of State Joao Lourenço inaugurated Monday in Luanda province a hemodialysis center with capacity to assist at least 210 patients /day. Located on Urban District of Benfica, Talatona municipality, the infrastructure has 70 machines and operates in three rotating shifts. The unit which is expected to increase its service to a total of 420 patients /day, is equipped with the latest technology. It is deemed one of the largest specialty centers (hemodialysis) in the country. In Angola, it is believed that there are between 1500 and 1600 people with kidney failure. According to the minister of Health, Silva Lutukuta, the Angolan Government spends 15 billion kwanzas per year on assistance to 1,621 patients undergoing hemodialysis.
