December 28, 2020 The Office of Disaster Preparedness & Emergency Management (ODPEM), has ordered the closure of Maiden Cay, and Lime Cay with immediate effect from Monday, December 28, 2020 to January 15, 2021. The decision comes following discussions with the Minister of Local Government and Rural Development, the Minister of National Security, and the Kingston and St. Andrew Municipal Corporation and ODPEM, after reports were made sighting glaring and continuous breaches of COVID-19 protocols. ODPEM has advised that the Cays are under the jurisdiction of the Government of Jamaica, and that the laws that are applicable to the main land Jamaica are applicable to the Cays.
