Man in dock for allegedly stealing copper cables from network towers in the Eastern Cape


Hawks spokesperson Yolisa Mgolodela said Chitati sped off before losing control and crashing into another vehicle.
Mgolodela added he then abandoned the bakkie and fled on foot.

"The Hawks and LCRC members were summoned and the suspect stealthily resurfaced at the crime scene. The driver of the other vehicle positively identified him.
"The Hawks' investigation linked the suspect to the bakkie and to a scrap yard where stolen copper cables are often sold." 
She said Sentech, the company responsible for erecting tower poles for network signals around Cala, identified the recovered cables.
