Man pleads to manslaughter in 2019 shooting death inside Saginaw party store Updated Feb 25, 2021; Facebook Share SAGINAW, MI — Days before his trial was to begin, a Saginaw man accused of fatally shooting another man inside a party store has accepted a plea deal. Edwin J. Singleton Jr., 27, on Tuesday, Feb. 23, appeared before Saginaw County Chief Circuit Judge Darnell Jackson and pleaded no contest to single count of voluntary manslaughter, carrying a concealed weapon, and felon in possession of a firearm, plus two counts of felony firearm. By pleading no contest as opposed to guilty, Singleton did not orally admit to having committed any crimes. Jackson had to rely on other documentation to enter convictions on the record.
