Man sentenced to 18 years in jail for raping woman behind church, while out on parole for rape

Tshepo Frans Kekana was sentenced to 18 years in prison for raping a 32-year-old victim in 2019.
It transpired that at the time of the rape, Kekana was out on parole linked to another rape conviction.
The Pretoria North Magistrate's Court ordered that Kekana serve 12 years of his sentence before being eligible for parole.
A 37-year-old man, who had previously been convicted of rape, has been sentenced to 18 years in prison for raping a woman behind a church, while he was out on parole.

According to the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA), in February 2019, the victim was on her way to meet her boyfriend in Soshanguve in the evening when Tshepo Frans Kekana accosted her, dragged her behind a church and raped her.
